State Fair Mop Up

Sadly I was only able to spend one day at the fair looking around, so I didn’t get to see everything I would have liked to have seen.  Here are some miscellaneous things I found especially beautiful.

Hand Painted Wooden Screen

Hand Painted Gourd

Paris Pillow

Let Them Eat Cake!

One of the most beautiful exhibits at the state fair was the the Cake exhibit.  Here are some of my favorites:

Stripe and Dot

Pink and Cream

Loop de Loop

 Chocolate and Cream

This was my favorite cake.  The detail on it was amazing!

Wood Exhibits at the State Fair

It was absolutely amazing to go through the Wood exhibit at the Kentucky State Fair.  I wouldn’t have thought it was possible to do some of the things that these people did.  Here are a selection of my favorites:

This picture does not do this piece justice.

Eiffel Tower

This was so gorgeous!  I can’t believe it didn’t win first place, but that tells you about the level of competition.

This could hang in the Cathedral it was so detailed and beautiful!

This chest was absolutely amazing.  I love the look of the quilted blocks that adorn the top.  I wonder if he is interested in selling his pieces.

Treasure Chest

Quilts (not my own I promise!)

I love quilting and I even tried my own hand at it recently, disasterous hand it should read.  I may never be a quilter, but I will always be a quilt lover.  There were some gorgeous quilts at the state fair.  Here are some of my favorites!

Dresden Plate?

This was a quilt done by the VA Hospital.  Each department did a block of the quilt.  It was wonderful to see the thought some of them had put into their departments block.

VA Hospital 1

This quilt was absolutely incredible.  She embroidered each President of the United States and several buildings on to each block.

Hello Everyone!

I know it has been awhile since I updated, but thank you for reminding me Cindy and Kristen!  Since my last post I have joined Ravelry (id:  Whiskey), 2 sock clubs, 2 holiday sock clubs and started at least 5 projects.  Needless to say I have lots to update, but I have to break it up, as I just don’t have the willpower to sit down and do it all at once!

The Kentucky State Fair was in August and I won first place!  I am so excited, granted it was only $2 gain (less than that when I get the tax bill at the end of the year), but it was a fun experience.  Here it is under the glass at the Fair:

I have lots of beautiful pictures of other fair entries that I will post over the coming days and also some other things I have been working on.
